 NRB CHALLENGES NEW CONGRESS TO
SECURE FIRST PRINCIPLES

Washington, D.C. –  “As an association of Christian communicators committed to using electronic media to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ, we realize that elections are generally about two things: expectations and hope,” said Dr. Frank Wright, NRB President & CEO this morning.

“In this era of dramatically expanded government power, yesterday’s election results suggest our expectation that government power, going forward, will be far more limited and constrained. Our hope is that this election will remind Americans of our need to secure our nation’s most basic freedoms: religious free speech and free exercise. As George Washington famously remarked, ‘Government…like fire…is a dangerous servant and a fearful master’.”

“Yesterday’s election results also suggest that voters still have hope that we can see a return to government of, for, and by the people,” concluded Dr. Wright. “We remain optimistic that Americans place a high priority on First Amendment freedoms, and our association is well positioned and well prepared for the work ahead.”
