Manassas, VA– Northwestern Media will receive the prestigious NRB Milestone Award during the Awards Dinner on Tuesday, March 5, at the NRB 2013 Convention & Exposition.
The NRB Milestone Award is presented each year at the annual NRB Convention to pioneers in Christian communications who have demonstrated exemplary service in the industry for five decades or more. This year, Northwestern Media marks 64 years since its first radio station went on air in 1949.
“For over six decades, Northwestern has been faithful in its mission to lead people to Christ and to nurture believers in their spiritual growth through Christ-centered media,” noted NRB President & CEO Dr. Frank Wright. “I applaud the network’s stations for their efforts to ‘super serve’ each of the communities they minister in by promoting dozens of local Christian organizations, and by encouraging their listeners to volunteer to serve others.”
Northwestern Media is the media network owned by Northwestern College in St. Paul, MN. The network began with the purchase of two stations (KTIS-AM and FM) in St. Paul in 1949, when the Rev. Billy Graham was President of Northwestern Schools.
Today, the network consists of 14 radio stations in seven Upper Midwest markets – eight air contemporary Christian music and six air Talk/Teaching programs. Programs include the top nationally syndicated programs, as well as four and a half hours of Northwestern-produced programs daily and five and a half hours of their own programs on the weekends. Northwestern stations minister to approximately 835,000 cume listeners each week. KTIS-FM, furthermore, consistently ranks in the Top 10 among 6+ cume stations in the Twin Cities.
The programming for all stations is streamed on the Internet.
