Manassas, VA– In Touch Ministries will receive the 2013 NRB Radio Impact Award on Tuesday, March 5, at the NRB 2013 Convention & Exposition.
The NRB Radio Impact Award is presented each year to a person, station, program, network, or ministry that has illustrated over time a consistent and unique impact within the Christian radio industry, and/or to the body of Christ as a whole. This year, the judges named In Touch Ministries as the winner of the award for The In Touch Messenger.
“The In Touch Messenger is utilized by missionaries, soldiers, chaplains, and pastors worldwide,” noted NRB President & CEO Dr. Frank Wright. “The outreach has educated, encouraged, blessed, and – most importantly – led countless individuals to repentance and salvation through Jesus Christ. I praise God for this endeavor!”
At In Touch Ministries, the goal is to lead people worldwide into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. In 2007, the ministry began a new step in reaching that goal through the development and worldwide distribution of The In Touch Messenger – a solar-powered, hand-held, MP3-type player that contains the unique teaching ministry of Dr. Charles Stanley. This initiative began by loading 80 carefully chosen sermons onto the players and distributing them to the military through chaplains. Thousands were received enthusiastically, and within a year the decision was made to expand the distribution internationally through missionaries, ministries, and individuals traveling overseas. In Touch targeted specific groups to receive the players: new believers, non-believers, pastors with limited formal training, and unreached people groups. As the Messengers were distributed, testimonies began pouring in of lives being changed.
As the initiative grew, 11 language versions were added, and the New Testament was also included on each unit. Recently, In Touch prepared dual-language versions containing 67 powerful messages plus the New Testament in both languages on each unit. So far, by God’s grace, over 400,000 Messengers have been distributed in 130 countries. This includes thousands that have gone into countries hostile to the Gospel – countries where a new generation of pastors use the Messengers to learn biblical life principles, and then pass them along to the churches they serve.
