Dr. Albert Mohler to Speak at Installation Ceremony of NRB’s New President

Dr. Albert MohlerManassas, VA– Dr. R. Albert Mohler, Jr., President of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, will speak during the installation of NRB President & CEO Dr. Jerry A. Johnson on Saturday, February 22, at the NRB 2014 International Christian Media Convention in Nashville, TN.

“It is an honor to have Dr. Mohler join us for the NRB Convention and an even greater honor to have him speak at my installation,” expressed NRB President & CEO Dr. Jerry A. Johnson. “Saturday night’s festivities will be a great way to open up our Convention.”

Dr. Johnson was unanimously elected by the NRB Board of Directors on October 1, 2013, after being vetted by the NRB Presidential Search Committee and later selected by the NRB Executive Committee following a five-month search.

Prior to his selection as NRB's new President & CEO, Dr. Johnson served as President of Criswell College in Dallas, TX, where he oversaw the operation of one of the nation’s leading major market Christian radio stations, KCBI–FM in Dallas, which was recognized by NRB as Station of the Year in 2011. He has also served in the senior administration and faculty at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Regarding Dr. Johnson's selection, Dr. Mohler said it "makes a powerful statement about the future of the National Religious Broadcasters."

“Jerry Johnson is a leader of rare ability and I am absolutely confident that he will provide superb leadership for the National Religious Broadcasters," he stated shortly after Dr. Johnson's election. "He represents a coming generation of leaders among American evangelicals."

Since 1993, Dr. Mohler has served as President of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary – the flagship school of the Southern Baptist Convention and one of the largest seminaries in the world. Dr. Mohler has been recognized by such influential publications as Time and Christianity Today as a leader among American evangelicals. In fact, Time.com called him the “reigning intellectual of the evangelical movement in the U.S.”

In addition to his presidential duties, Dr. Mohler hosts two programs: The Briefing, a daily analysis of news and events from a Christian worldview; and Thinking in Public, a series of conversations with the day’s leading thinkers. He also writes a popular blog and a regular commentary on moral, cultural, and theological issues. Called “an articulate voice for conservative Christianity at large” by The Chicago Tribune, Dr. Mohler’s mission is to address contemporary issues from a consistent and explicit Christian worldview.
