CBM (formerly Christian Blind Mission) was founded in 1908 with the opening of an orphanage for blind children in Turkey. CBM has since grown into an organization that, in 2012, served over 31 million people living with a range of disabilities in more than 70 countries. With a model that promotes self-reliance to help beneficiaries break the concurrent cycles of poverty and disability, CBM seeks to restore life and hope for people with disabilities in some of the world's poorest places.
