Americans are well aware of the targeting by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS or Service) of Tea Party and other conservative organizations applying for tax-exempt status under §501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code (Code), which was revealed by the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration in May 2013.
