The White House honored National Adoption Month this week and hosted a panel of adoption experts, including a representative of Focus on the Family. This celebratory event, organized by the White House Office of Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships, featured senior Washington officials, including Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), as well as adoption and child welfare experts and faith leaders. The panels focused on adopting children from foster care, international adoption, and infant adoption.
Focus on the Family Vice President of Community Outreach Kelly Rosati was invited to participate, given her leadership of the Wait No More campaign, an initiative seeking to encourage and aid Christian families in adopting children from foster care. The Wait No More campaign partners with adoption agencies, churches, and other ministries to organize events and targeted marketing campaigns to highlight the urgent need for adoptive parents. Over 1,500 families have begun the process of adopting a child in foster care in response to these efforts.
National Adoption Month is celebrated each November.
