Video Caption Regulations Made Easy

Closed caption logoIn October 2011, the FCC reversed hundreds of exemptions that had been granted primarily to Christian TV stations and programmers (most of them non-NRB members) which had previously relieved them of the obligation to “close caption” their programs. As a public service to the Christian television community, on December 1st, NRB’s General Counsel Craig Parshall and NRB Board Member attorney Joseph Chautin co-hosted an informational teleconference designed to explain the FCC ruling and give encouragement to television ministries as they decided whether to file for a new exemption, or to begin closed captioning by the new broadcast TV deadline of January 19, 2012.
