The Elections: Christian Leaders Urge Americans to Pray, Prepare, Participate

electionWith only a few days left before the Elections, Christian leaders across the nation are encouraging believers to pray for the nation, prepare by urging others to vote, and participate by voting their values.

The following are some of the statements that have been made regarding the body of Christ and the Elections:

“I encourage people to vote for the candidate at every level who best represents their values and convictions, and then to pray for those in authority over us as required in Scripture.”

Franklin Graham, President, Samaritan’s Purse

“The moral issues with public policy implications being debated today are far too important for Christians to ignore, especially at election time.  Do your homework on the candidates and vote your values.”

Tony Perkins, President, Family Research Council

“I think it is a disgrace that half the Christians in America aren't even registered to vote, and of those who are, only half go to the polls.”

Dr. James Dobson, Founder, Focus on the Family

“Whether we are enthusiastic about our political candidates or disappointed with our choices, we should not shirk our duty as good citizens…. And let us pray for whomever wins!”

Dr. Erwin W. Lutzer, Senior Pastor, The Moody Church

“The legacy we leave behind for our children, grandchildren and this great nation is critical…. I believe it is vitally important that we cast our ballots for candidates who base their decisions on biblical principles and support the nation of Israel. I urge you to vote for those who protect the sanctity of life and support the biblical definition of marriage between a man and a woman. Vote for biblical values this November 6, and pray with me that America will remain one nation under God.”

Billy Graham, Founder, Billy Graham Evangelistic Association
