In its FY2014 Budget proposal sent to Congress this week, the White House renewed a call for spectrum license user fees. The President’s Budget suggests such fees would encourage “efficient utilization of spectrum” and would raise approximately $5 billion over 10 years. These fees would apply to spectrum licenses that were not gained through an auction.
This is not the first time the Obama Administration has suggested such fees. NRB will be closely following this latest proposal to tax America’s spectrum, particularly since any new fees would undoubtedly add strain to the budgets of many religious broadcasters.
