Salem Radio Host Sees Promise, Success in First Responders Bible Project

First Responders BibleThousands of specially produced King James Bibles have been distributed to first responders throughout the country as part of an effort to help these men and women gain the spiritual fitness needed to cope with the stress they face each time they are called to respond to an emergency.

A project of the Mike Gallagher Show Charitable Foundation and the National Bible Association, the First Responders Bible includes a spiritual fitness guide as well as counseling and spiritual tips on how to stay strong and faith-filled when faced with catastrophic life-or-death situations.

"These police officers and EMTs and firefighters encounter all kinds of ghastly things in the course of their day-to-day duties," says Salem Radio Network host Mike Gallagher. "This Bible serves as a spiritual fitness manual for these oftentimes husbands, wives, sons, daughters, mothers, and fathers."

In the last year or so, Gallagher's foundation has been able to distribute Bibles to communities that have been the scene of catastrophic events, including Newtown, CT, as well as cities in Arizona, Florida, Kansas, New York, Oklahoma, and Texas.

To date, 15,000 of these Bibles have been printed thanks to the generous gifts of donors throughout the country who appreciate the work of first responders and who care about their physical and spiritual well-being.

"We rely completely on the generosity of individuals and corporate donors who like what we’re doing and want to see us continue our mission,” says Gallagher.

Last month, the First Responders Bible was introduced to sheriffs from across the nation at the annual conference of the National Sheriffs' Association.

Firt Responders Bible Exhibit Booth"I am excited to say we were well received," reports Joey Hudson, Director of Gallagher's foundation and Gallagher's business manager. "Many sheriffs expressed that our ministry was much needed, and we did not have a single person not accept a Bible and promise to have their chaplains follow up with us to request shipments for more. Additionally, we had a number of requests to attend future state sheriffs' meetings in the coming year."

The Bible also received some media attention recently when the new police chief of the Miami-Dade Police Department highlighted the First Responders Bible during a TV interview.

"We just feel like God’s hand has guided us through this project," Hudson says.

"I think that we’re really on to something huge in getting these Bibles into the hands of first responders everywhere," Gallagher adds.
