NRB Healthcare Referral Program Offers Big Savings Potential for Association Members

NRB Member cardA new program established by NRB earlier this year is presenting members of the association with the opportunity to save as much as $1,000 – $3,000 per employee per year.

The NRB Health Care Insurance Referral Program, first announced in May, seeks to reduce cost and improve healthcare coverage for organizations through analysis of existing programs and current plan designs with applied integrated technology and proven premium savings.

Those who take advantage of the offer could see potentially significant savings through the program without decreasing their level of coverage, without changing their insurance, and without needing to exclude their broker.

NRB, which itself is a nonprofit organization, realized a savings of $104,820 in the first 11 months through the program, and anticipates an annual savings of $114,000.

“Health Insurance costs are high and getting higher,” notes NRB Director of Membership Melissa Sturgis.  “By implementing this program, NRB experienced significant savings, and we want our members to have the opportunity to do the same.”

For the program, NRB is working with InterWest Insurance Services, which will offer members of NRB a free analysis that includes: an evaluation of their current insurance plan, a market comparison of carrier(s) that best fit the NRB member's needs, and recommendations on how they can improve plan benefits and save money.

“We do not sell insurance – we help organizations and individuals choose their insurance based on needs and budget,” explains Interwest Employee Benefits Broker Taryn Bacon, who is the point of contact for NRB’s new program. “We do this by educating them on how their plan works and what is available in the market and through their employer.”

InterWest Insurance is licensed in all 50 states and is the 59th largest agency in the U.S. The privately held agency has close to a century of combined experience and was awarded the “Best Practices” designation, which recognizes them as one of the top-performing agencies in the U.S. with regard to client retention, stability, and financial management.
