The FCC has returned to a full five-member panel now that the Senate has unanimously confirmed a new FCC Chairman, Tom Wheeler, and Commissioner, Michael O’Rielly. Mr. Wheeler will take the seat of former Chairman Julius Genachowski, as Acting Chair Mignon Clyburn returns to her role of Commissioner. Wheeler, a key Obama campaign ally in 2008 and 2012, led the National Cable Television Association in the early 1980s and the Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association (CTIA) from 1992 to 2004. Mr. O’Rielly, who will fill the vacant Republican Commissioner slot at the FCC, most recently worked for Senate Minority Whip John Cornyn (R-TX), and previously served in other Senate and House offices.
