Grown from tiny roots to the most powerful Christian radio station in Arizona, Radio Shine sends a message of hope across the state.
Nationally syndicated radio program producer and host Sally Barton joined the Radio Shine team in February 2011 as Station Manager, with a focus of increasing the reach into the local community and forging partnerships with Christ-centered ministries to build together that “irresistible culture of hope.”
“In coming aboard as Station Manager, I looked to His Word for direction. In Romans 15:13, our Lord counsels, ‘May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace…so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.’ I want our listeners to experience this hope through what they hear on air, and what we do in the community,” said Barton.
Through the Board of Directors and the Radio Shine staff, Barton has upgraded the fundraising and donor development software and increased donor gifts by 12% in one year. Additional staff has been added to facilitate community outreach and community event development, as well as provide a more effective extension of the local church.
Radio Shine welcomed new Program Director Daniel Young in May 2012. Young comes to Radio Shine from Northwestern College stations KNWI/KNWM where he served as Program Director. He was honored as one of 30 under 30 Up-and-Coming Broadcasters by Edison Research and was a finalist for Music Director of the Year by Christian Music Broadcasters Association. Young, 28, joins the Radio Shine team at a significant time. After 11 years of dedicated, effective service, current Program Director Mike Medlin leaves Radio Shine to become a missionary for Emerge Missions, serving in the Philippines.
