Leading The Way with Dr. Michael Youssef Celebrates 25th Anniversary

Dr. Michael YoussefLeading The Way is celebrating 25 years of ministry, and will be sharing its history through featured installments over the next few weeks.

What began in 1988 as a small, local radio ministry is now a worldwide multi-media ministry reaching and encouraging people with the love and Truth of Christ in more than 190 countries in 21 of the most spoken languages. With technological advances, a ministry once confined to a hill in Atlanta, GA, now shines as a light to the nations.

"Decades ago, Michael Youssef had a vision and a desire to reach the nations for Christ, but wondered how a task so big might be accomplished," recalled Leading The Way in its ministry update last week. "God encouraged him to take one step at a time, allowing the Lord to guide him in fulfilling his vision of reaching the nations for Christ."

On a crisp autumn day in 1988, the first step was taken when a founding member of Dr. Youssef’s church took him to lunch and then an attorney’s office to discuss the steps for setting up a radio ministry. In that meeting, the ministry was established and named after one of Dr. Youssef’s first books, Leading The Way.

"The imagery fit," noted the organization. "The ministry would lead the lost along the narrow path."

Through creative methods, Leading The Way and its partners today passionately proclaim uncompromising Truth to spread the light of Christ. In addition to its television and radio broadcasts, Leading The Way also produces DVDs, CDs, books, a monthly devotional magazine, solar-powered Navigators, and daily e-devotionals. In 2009, the ministry launched THE KINGDOM SAT television channel to broadcast biblical Truth from 50 ministry partners to five continents on five satellite platforms in English, Arabic and French.

Leading The Way also partners internationally with in-country follow-up teams to encourage new believers in their faith, helping God's Kingdom to grow around the world, and funds Help The Persecuted to provide vital aid to believers being persecuted for their faith in Christ.
