A South Asian inmate tasted fresh water for the first time in eight years after Gospel for Asia (GFA)-supported missionaries gave a local prison five BioSand water filters that will provide an unlimited supply of clean water for the inmates.
In celebration of World Water Day, which took place on March 22, the GFA-supported missionaries handed out water filters and explained the importance of clean water for healthy living.
“I have been here in the jail for eight years, and I know how difficult it is to live without clean water for drinking,” said Manav Banjeree, an inmate speaking on behalf of the other 172 prisoners. “I am so thankful to the leaders who care for the prisoners and gave filters for our daily use.”
The GFA team leader assured the inmates that they would supply more water filters so all eight prison wards will have access to safe water. They hope and pray these filters will help bring the inmates closer to the One who provides streams of Living Water that never run dry.
