Evangelism Explosion Seeks Prayers for Jailed Pastor in Kazakhstan

KazakhstanDr. John Sorensen, President and CEO of Evangelism Explosion International, has issued an urgent prayer request for a pastor in Kazakhstan who was recently jailed.

On Monday, Dr. Sorensen urged the Christian community to pray for Pastor Makset Djabbarbergenov, who now sits in jail as authorities decide whether to send him back to his native Uzbekistan, where he is wanted for the “crime” of sharing Jesus with others.

“He is in grave jeopardy and I’m asking you to pray right now and to remember him daily,” stated Dr. Sorensen. “Ask others to join in, too. We’ll update you as we learn more details.”

According to Evangelism Explosion, Makset is the father of five children – four boys and one child on the way – and has served the ministry for several years in Kazakhstan.

Evangelism Explosion is a ministry that trains people how to share their faith in Christ and how to bring people from unbelief to belief. It utilizes a variety of components including prayer, actual on-the-job training where the experienced lead the inexperienced, and the principle of spiritual multiplication.

The ministry was launched in 1962 by the late Dr. D. James Kennedy.
