Congressman Coble to Retire

Congressman Howard Coble (R-NC), a top Republican on the House Judiciary Committee, announced Thursday that he does not plan to seek re-election next year. Rep. Coble, age 82 and first elected to Congress in 1984, is currently the Chairman of the key House Judiciary Subcommittee on Courts, Intellectual Property, and the Internet. He received praises from members on both sides of the aisle, including Rep. David Price (D-NC), who noted, “Howard Coble is one of the best-liked members of the House of Representatives, and that affection extends across the political spectrum…. Howard reminds us of a time when our politics were less hard-edged.”
