The pastor of one of the largest Evangelical churches in India once said: “If we are to reach the 1.2 billion people in India with God’s message of hope through Jesus Christ, we must use media.”
With that in mind, NRB, along with some of its member organizations, is participating in a significant media training conference September 19-22 in Allahabad, India. While it is hard to know how many will attend, organizers in India have said there could be as many as 300 attendees for the conference.
Dr. Frank Wright, NRB’s President & CEO, and Dr. Ron Harris, NRB’s Senior Vice President for Strategic Partnerships, will be part of the teaching faculty. Dr. Hannu Haukka, head of the Great Commission Ministry in Finland and chairman of the NRB International Committee, will also be on the program.
In addition, NRB member organizations including In Touch Ministries, CBN, and HCJB Global will be sending representatives to teach in areas of television and radio production, Internet, and management.
“One of NRB’s core values is preserving and expanding access to electronic media. NRB’s upcoming India Media Training conference is a strategic opportunity with enormous potential for extending the reach of the Gospel in ways only previously imagined,” says Dr. Wright.
At the 2012 NRB Convention’s worship service, NRB members gave over $12,000 for this teaching and training effort.
Aside from being the second-most populous country in the world, India has the largest number of unreached groups for any one country.
“I hope our NRB members will seize the opportunity to pray for this important effort,” adds Dr. Harris. “With strong support in India and from NRB, we want to see hundreds become more effective in sharing the Gospel of Christ.”
