WASHINGTON (NRB) – NRB hailed the U.S. Supreme Court’s 7-2 rulings honoring religious liberty in the cases of Our Lady of Guadalupe School v. Morrissey-Berru and Little Sisters of the Poor Saints Peter and Paul Home v. Pennsylvania.
Celebrating today’s rulings, Troy Miller, CEO of NRB, the world’s pre-eminent association of Christian broadcasters and communicators, said:
These rulings are major wins for religious liberty. We applaud the Court for recognizing in Our Lady of Guadalupe that employers with religious convictions have the right to operate according to those convictions and to employ those who will do so as well – and not just when it comes to ministers. Furthermore, NRB applauds the Court for ensuring through its decision on Little Sisters of the Poor that organizations with sincerely-held religious and/or moral objections are not forced to provide coverage for some or all contraceptive services in their health plans as required by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. The freedom to live and operate according to your faith is America’s first freedom in the Bill of Rights, and it must be guaranteed and protected.
NRB is a nonpartisan, international association of Christian communicators whose member organizations represent millions of listeners, viewers, and readers. NRB’s mission is two-fold: To protect the free speech rights of our members to speak Biblical truth, by advocating those rights in governmental, corporate, and media sectors; and To foster excellence, integrity, and accountability in our membership by providing networking, educational, ministry, and relational opportunities.
