Roma Downey to Speak at the Opening Session of Proclaim 16

Roma DowneyNashville, TN –Roma Downey is scheduled to speak on Tuesday, February 23, at the Opening Session of Proclaim 16, the NRB International Christian Media Convention in Nashville, TN.

“Roma is no stranger to NRB and to attendees of our Convention. And her role in the production and success of faith-based projects including The Bible and Son of God have earned her praise – and rightfully so," commented NRB President & CEO Dr. Jerry A. Johnson. “We look forward to having her share her upcoming film, Ben-Hur, which we also welcome as a Bronze Level Convention Sponsor.”

A celebrated Emmy®-nominated actress and producer, Roma Downey is best known for her nine seasons as the tender-hearted angel on the hit CBS television show Touched by an Angel, for which she earned multiple Emmy® and Golden Globe® best actress nominations.

Today, Downey is President of LightWorkers Media, the faith and family division of MGM Television, and also serves as the Chief Content Officer for the planned OTT (over-the-top) faith-based channel.  She and her husband, Mark Burnett, produced the Emmy®-nominated miniseries The Bible and the feature film Son of God.

Together, Downey and Burnett have recently produced The Women of the Bible for LIFETIME, The Dovekeepers for CBS, A.D. The Bible Continues for NBC, Answered Prayers for TLC, and the feature films Little Boy for Open Road Films and Woodlawn for Pure Flix. The couple is currently producing the epic feature film Ben-Hur, a re-imagining of the classic story. It is set to release summer 2016. An extended clip from the film will be shown during the Convention’s Opening Session.
