Manassas, VA – The National Religious Broadcasters Board of Directors, a body of approximately a hundred key leaders among Christian communicators, this week unanimously approved a Resolution urging its members “to embrace equality and reconciliation, specifically being mindful in neighbor love and ministry partnerships to reach across racial and ethnic lines that have divided too many for too long.”
“Events in Ferguson and elsewhere over the last year are stark reminders that wounds of racial and ethnic strife still fester in America,” stated Dr. Jerry A. Johnson, President & CEO of NRB. “Christian leaders need to be at the forefront of seeking healing and true friendship, particularly within the rich racial and ethnic diversity of the Church.”
Citing the Bible, as well as the U.S. Declaration of Independence, the NRB Board asserted that all people are created equal and should be treated with the love and dignity as creatures made in the image of God. The Board resolved that it “denounces any form of racial or ethnic discrimination and hatred, and NRB opposes the actions of those who would seek to inflame racial or ethnic tension for their own gain.”
The NRB Board also honored government agents who defend “a just and orderly society in which the constitutional freedoms of every citizen, regardless of race or ethnicity, are enjoyed through the structure of the law.”
