|FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
April 5, 2017
As the U.S. Senate proceeds this week to a vote to confirm Judge Neil M. Gorsuch to the United States Supreme Court, Dr. Jerry A. Johnson, President & CEO of National Religious Broadcasters, issued the following statement:following statement:
“The character and qualifications of Judge Gorsuch are impeccable. He has a demonstrated track record of honoring the Constitution and the rule of law, and he deserves to be confirmed to the Supreme Court by the Senate.
“I thank and honor President Trump for being a man of his word as he nominated Judge Gorsuch. I also applaud Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell for heeding past precedent by ensuring that the American people had an opportunity to speak last November prior to the filling of the late Justice Scalia’s seat. The people did speak and, in a shock to Washington, gave us, not only the President, but also the Senate we have today.
“It’s time for some in the Senate to stop bowing to every wish of Planned Parenthood and others among the radical Left who are still in vehement denial and are promulgating anger and flagrant obstruction. It’s time for statesmanship to prevail.
“I wholeheartedly support the confirmation of Judge Gorsuch. I trust and will support Senator McConnell in this endeavor to ensure a just path for that confirmation by whatever means needed to overcome any unreasonable and hypocritical blockade that may materialize.”
