A Preview of Museum of the Bible
Dates: February 24 - 26
Entry Fee: FREE and open to the public. Attendees must register for a Proclaim 16 Expo Pass
Hours of Operation:
The free exhibit in Nashville is open to NRB conference attendees and the general public. The 7,300-square-foot display will preview artifacts, immersive settings and interactive technologies destined for the Washington museum. NRB exhibit visitors will experience some of the rare biblical texts and artifacts slated for the Washington museum’s three primary exhibit floors dedicated to a scholarly and engaging presentation of the history, narrative and impact of the Bible.
Several items from the museum’s history floor were selected for the Nashville exhibit to pinpoint critical moments in the Bible’s transmission and translation history. Rare texts on display will include a ninth-century Jewish prayer book, a 13th-century handwritten Latin Bible and a first-edition King James Bible from 1611.
Artifacts chosen for Nashville to illustrate the cultural impact and influence of the Bible include ancient altarpieces from Ethiopia and early-American writings, such as Thomas Payne’s “Common Sense.”
The Nashville preview provides guests with an experiential glimpse of the museum’s narrative floor through a sampling from the Nazareth Village display. Completing the exhibit will be artists’ renderings of some of the key features of the upcoming museum.
To visit the exhibit, go to nrbconvention.org and register for a free exposition pass. An expo-only registration will allow visitors to enter the exhibit hall at Proclaim 16, the largest marketplace dedicated to Christian media professionals, where approximately 200 vendors will showcase their products and services.
