Vonette Bright Honored with NRB Board of Directors Award (Posthumously)

Vonette BrightMANASSAS, Va. – Vonette Bright was named the recipient (posthumously) of the NRB Board of Directors Award during the Closing Gala on February 26 at Proclaim 16, the NRB International Christian Media Convention in Nashville, Tennessee. Brad Bright, Vonette’s son, received the award on her behalf.

The NRB Board of Directors Award honors a Christian who demonstrates integrity, displays creativity, and makes a significant impact on society. In recognition that broadcasting is not the only way to witness to the power of the Gospel, the award winner may or may not be in the field of electronic communications.

Vonette Zachary Bright co-founded Campus Crusade for Christ in 1951 with her husband, Dr. William R. Bright.

Concerned for the moral and spiritual values of our nation and world, Bright founded the Great Commission Prayer Crusade in 1972. Her commitment to prayer led to the founding of the National Prayer Committee. She served for nine years as chair of the National Day of Prayer Task Force and was successful in introducing legislation to make the first Thursday of every May the permanent date for the National Day of Prayer.
