The Reconnect with Carmen LaBerge Receives 2018 NRB Radio Program of the Year Award

NASHVILLE (NRB) – The Reconnect with Carmen LaBerge received the 2018 NRB Radio Program of the Year Award on Friday, March 2, at Proclaim 18, the NRB International Christian Media Convention in Nashville, Tennessee.

The NRB Radio Program of the Year Award recognizes a radio program that has impacted its listeners by being compelling, relevant, informative, personable, and entertaining, while demonstrating an authentic Christian faith. Any program, regardless of length or frequency of airing, may compete for Program of the Year. The emphasis is not on the number of markets, numbers of listeners, or the size of the budget. Rather, the award honors a program God has used over the last 12 months to make a difference for Christ, whether it is in a small community or across the nation.

Launched in April 2016, The Reconnect with Carmen LaBerge equipped Christians to speak truth into real issues in real time through a daily one-hour radio program, online resources, and the one-minute commentary Reconnect One. While it was on the air, the program’s purpose was to mobilize every Christian to get off the sidelines and into the cultural conversations of the day in ways that honor Jesus. The Reconnect with Carmen LaBerge aired on five stations and Reconnect One aired on 445 stations on CSN (Christian Satellite Network). The program was a ministry of the Presbyterian Lay Committee, which has been equipping Christians for faithful witness for more than 50 years.

The Reconnect challenged Christians to view the news differently – from God’s perspective – and mobilize them into action as Christ’s ambassadors for the Kingdom of Heaven among the kingdoms of this world. Listeners reported that they were pushed to think beyond the parameters of their world, with the program equipping them to “look for creative ways to bring God into every conversation.” One listener reported that they are now empowered to speak truth in real time to real issues: “You help me see and respond to the breaking news of the day with the Good News of Jesus Christ that breaks the power of sin, death, and despair.”

The Radio Program of the Year Award was one of 26 awards that were presented during Proclaim 18, which took place February 27-March 2, 2018, at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee. For the complete list of 2018 award recipients, click here.
