NASHVILLE (NRB) – Answers in Genesis (AiG) received the 2018 NRB Most Innovative Digital Method Award on Friday, March 2, at Proclaim 18, the NRB International Christian Media Convention in Nashville, Tennessee.
The NRB Media Award for Most Innovative Digital Method is presented to an organization that utilizes trending, cutting-edge strategies and innovative platforms to move Christ-centered communication forward for a single event, tactic, or technology.
Answers in Genesis, located near Cincinnati, Ohio, is the world’s largest apologetics ministry with more than 400 employees. This nonprofit organization, established in 1994, includes the Answers with Ken Ham radio program on more than 1,000 stations, the award-winning website AnswersinGenesis.org, the subscriber-based Answers magazine, the 70,000-square-foot Creation Museum, and Ark Encounter – a Bible-themed attraction featuring a life-sized Noah’s ark with three floors spanning more than 130,000 square feet with exhibits, animal cages, and lifelike sculptures, etc. Resources produced/distributed by AiG focus primarily on topics related to the authority/trustworthiness of Scripture to equip Christians and win others to Christ.
To target younger audiences, Answers in Genesis added Snapchat geofilters into its marketing strategy in 2016. Photo overlays are geofenced with specific parameters and timed for return optimization, then used by Snapchatters to communicate their stories of what they’re doing. Visitors have fun snapping photos with geofilters, sharing with their audiences, garnering impressions and engagement. Whether pretending to be chased by a dinosaur, or making Christmas Town memories, it’s a bonus to their experience. The Ark Encounter and Creation Museum geofilters have had 16,500 uses and 550,000 impressions over seven months.
The Most Innovative Digital Method Award was one of 26 awards that were presented during Proclaim 18, which took place February 27-March 2, 2018, at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee. For the complete list of 2018 award recipients, click here.
