Nashville, TN – Cinedigm Entertainment Group is the latest to be added to the list of distributors who will be available for filmmakers participating in the NRB Pitch-a-thon in Nashville.
“I am excited to be a part of this NRB Pitch-a-thon,” exclaimed Glenn Atamaniuk, a National Account Director at Cinedigm, a leading independent content distributor in the United States, with direct relationships with more than 60,000 physical retail storefronts and digital platforms, including Walmart, Target, iTunes, Netflix, and Amazon, as well as the national Video on Demand platform on cable television.
“I look forward to meeting the writers, producers, and directors of the future, and to see what stories the Lord has given them to tell,” he added.
Next week, as thousands of Christian media and ministry professionals make their way to Proclaim 16, the NRB International Christian Media Convention, filmmakers of various levels of experience will be preparing to pitch their story, script, and even finished products straight to a distribution company.
During the NRB Pitch-a-thon, representatives of participating distribution companies will be seated around tables. Everyone who signs up for the Pitch-a-thon will have five minutes with up to two of the distributors – up to three minutes to pitch their project, and then two for the distributor’s notes. No more than two people can represent a project to a distributor and only one project is allowed per five-minute session. Prospective participants select up to two distributors when they sign up for Pitch-a-thon online. All are encouraged to do their homework and research the best distributors for their project before making their selection.
The still-growing list* of those on the receiving end of the Pitch-a-thon currently includes:
In the two years that NRB has hosted the Pitch-a-thon, a number of scripts have been purchased and a number of participants have received offers for distribution for their films.
“I presented a one-page overview of my screenplay, Helen of Troy, Tennessee, to Scott Mednick (300, Superman Returns, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) of Paramount,” shared actor, writer, and comedian Torry Martin, who participated in the 2015 Pitch-a-thon. “Within 24 hours, he’d read my script cover to cover.” Soon, Mednick and Martin (along with co-writer Marshal Younger) entered into an exclusive 18-month film option agreement. Today, Helen of Troy, Tennessee marches toward production.
“My advice to any Christian who wants to break into the entertainment industry? Join NRB and attend the Convention,” says Martin. “It’s an investment in your future. Oh, and bring a box of business cards. You are going to need them.”
The upcoming Pitch-a-thon will take place Friday, February 26, from 9:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville, TN – site of Proclaim 16, the upcoming NRB International Christian Media Convention.
Registration is required to participate in the Pitch-a-thon, and all participants must be present at 8:15 a.m. In addition, all participants must attend a session on “How to Pitch Your Story” from 8:45 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. Participants are advised to register as soon as possible to ensure a spot with the distributor(s) they want most. Appointments are filling up quickly.
The Pitch-a-thon is one of the activities lined up for the NRB Film & Entertainment Summit that will take place on Friday, February 26, the last day of Proclaim 16. It is included in the cost of a Friday-Only Day Pass ($275) and the full Convention registration (prices vary). Other summit activities can be found at nrbconvention.org/film.
