Blue Ridge Broadcasting to Receive the 2017 NRB Milestone Award

Blue Ridge Broadcasting logoWASHINGTON (NRB) –Blue Ridge Broadcasting will receive an NRB Milestone Award on Thursday, March 2, at Proclaim 17, the NRB International Christian Media Convention in Orlando, Florida.

Longevity in any field is becoming a rarity, and exemplary service in Christian broadcasting for 50 years or more is a feat worthy of recognition and affirmation. Through its Milestone Award, NRB honors the industry pioneers who brought Christian communications to the place of respect and achievement it enjoys today.

Billy and Ruth Graham founded Blue Ridge Broadcasting (BRB) in 1962 to serve their home area near Asheville, North Carolina, with Christian radio. Committed to leading people into a personal and dynamic relationship with Jesus Christ, BRB’s WMIT (106.9 the Light) in Asheville and WFGW (106.7 the Light) in Knoxville, Tennessee, provide encouragement through hope-filled music and Bible teaching.

“Everything that’s been accomplished over these past 54 years is a credit to God,” said Jim Kirkland, Executive Director of Blue Ridge Broadcasting. “Blue Ridge Broadcasting has simply been helping to deliver His message. We’ll only be successful if we stay in tune to the mission that God has called us to. It’s not our work, it’s His.”

In congratulating BRB, NRB President & CEO Dr. Jerry A. Johnson said, “Billy Graham was not only the best-known evangelist of his era; he was a Christian broadcasting pioneer. Through Blue Bridge Broadcasting and his many other media ventures, Rev. Graham has been effective in spreading the Gospel far and wide. Today, after all these years, Blue Ridge Broadcasting continues to encourage, reach, and lead its more than seven million potential listeners.”

The Milestone Award is one of 21 awards that will be presented during Proclaim 17, which takes place February 27-March 2, 2017, at the Orlando World Center Marriott in Orlando. For the complete list of 2017 award recipients, click here
