Manassas, VA– The late Bill Skelton will be honored as the recipient of the NRB William Ward Ayer Award for Distinguished Service during the Awards Dinner on Tuesday, March 5, at the NRB 2013 Convention & Exposition in Nashville, TN.
Named after NRB's first president, the William Ward Ayer Award for Distinguished Service is presented to an individual NRB member with excellence and integrity for outstanding and significant contributions to the field of Christian communications. This year, Bill Skelton was selected to be the recipient of the award.
“Bill blessed many in the community of Christian broadcasters through his words of wisdom, encouragement, and challenge,” noted NRB President & CEO Dr. Frank Wright. “It is an honor to have known him and a privilege to recognize his influential role in furthering the worldwide reach of the Gospel through electronic media.”
For 20 years, Bill Skelton served as the President/CEO for Love Worth Finding, a Memphis, TN-based Christian broadcast ministry. Under Skelton's leadership, the group expanded from airing on three TV and radio networks to about 14,000 international media outlets, including six satellite networks.
Skelton was a founding member of the Board of Directors for the NRB Network, and from 2008 to 2011, he served as NRB’s Chairman of the Board. As Chairman, he initiated the 40-day “If My People” prayer initiative in 2010. He also served as the Chairman of Life Choices of Memphis.
Skelton went to be with the Lord in February 2012. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, three children and five grandchildren.
