Local radio station brings Southern gospel to region

For more than two decades, Southern Gospel music lovers have heard a familiar voice praying on the radio five days a week. At 9:05 a.m., Melvin Bland, program director at WJCV, hosts Prayer Time. For half an hour, he prays for needs near and far: elected officials, the military, and the list of the names of people who call in with prayer requests on a yellow legal pad in the studio.
