Equality Act aims to expand Civil Rights Act

Congress is set to weigh in next year on proposed legislation that would amend the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to ban discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity.

Earlier this month, the Obama administration endorsed the Equality Act, which aims to expand the civil rights legislation passed more than 50 years ago.
