KDAZ, the radio station of the Son Broadcasting Network, celebrated its 40th anniversary this past Friday.
The radio station was purchased in December 1971 by NRB member Blackie Gonzales, who went to be with the Lord in 2008. Since its establishment, KDAZ has been working to provide listeners throughout New Mexico's communities the best in Christian music and Christian talk radio. Its original and national programs today include The Dave Ramsey Show , Hope for the Heart with June Hunt, In The Market with Janet Parshall, Jay Sekulow Live, and The Light Through the Night.
“The radio station has brought many to the Lord and was mightily used to build the first VHF Christian TV station in the nation and the first Christian station in New Mexico,” notes Annette Garcia, President of Son Broadcasting.
“The Gonzales family continues to propagate the Word through both AM730 KDAZ and Son Broadcasting, KCHF TV, and is looking forward to many more years of being a leader in Christian media throughout New Mexico in changing lives through the message of Jesus Christ,” she adds.
For the anniversary event on Friday, Janet Parshall was invited to deliver the keynote address. Parshall was part of KDAZ’s very first talk programs as the transition moved from a music format to Christian talk. Also present was Craig Parshall, NRB Senior Vice President & General Counsel, who shared words of encouragement.
In addition to its radio station and TV station, Son Broadcasting has two other organizations it mainly works through: a nutrition organization, HealthTech, and a media organization, Salt Agency.
