Pure Flix plans to release Old Fashioned on DVD on June 16. The movie centers on former frat boy Clay Walsh and free-spirited Amber Hewson, who together attempt the impossible: an “old-fashioned” courtship in contemporary America.
Old Fashioned opened on 224 screens and grossed an impressive $1.9 million at the box office. The indie film, released the same weekend as the controversial 50 Shades of Grey, attracted audiences with its uplifting message centering on the authentic and romantic meaning of love. The juxtaposition garnered media attention for the indie film that featured coverage including Time magazine, Variety, and MTV.
“With the film release of Old Fashioned, I wanted to tell a love story that takes the idea of Godly romance seriously and spark some meaningful conversations about love and romance,” said writer and star Rik Swartzwelder. “We believe the DVD release will keep that conversation going; and hopefully, help bring a measure of additional healing and wholeness to those who may still carry wounds or guilt from previous romantic relationships.”
Old Fashioned features Swartzwelder as Clay, and Elizabeth Roberts (Criminal Minds, CSI) as Amber. The film is co-produced by Nathan Nazario of Motion Picture Pro Studios, Dave DeBorde, and Nini Hadjis. The film also stars Dorothy Silver (The Shawshank Redemption), Tyler Hollinger (Black Dog, Red Dog), Lejon Woods (Tomorrow You’re Gone), Nini Hadjis, Maryann Nagel (Take Shelter), Joseph Bonamico (Trumpet in the Land), Lindsay Heath, Anne Marie Nestor, and Ange’le Perez.
The film is rated PG-13.
