NRB President & CEO Dr. Jerry A. Johnson is joining the call to encourage America's Christians this election season to lift their eyes from politics and earthly princes to the one true God who is the one true hope for America's revival.
“If there’s one thing on which all Christians must be in agreement it is our duty to pray for a great movement of God in our nation that will result in a reformation of biblical principles in our land,” said Johnson. “I wholeheartedly encourage all NRB members to participate in the ‘If 7:14’ prayer initiative or some other similar effort in the weeks leading up to our general election. Prayer is something our God commands and our nation needs. Let us pray.”
Spearheaded by the If 7:14 movement, the #Focus4Forty prayer initiative is encouraging people to pray for America in the 40 days – beginning Sept. 30 – leading up to Election Day.
“Like you, many of our friends and ministry followers have come to us asking what to do about this year's presidential election. But almost any answer to that question is like a step into quicksand,” shared Bob Vander Plaats, President and CEO of The FAMiLY LEADER, whose book, If 7:14, and movement of the same name draws from 2 Chronicles 7:14 and inspires people to pray every day for revival at 7:14 a.m. and 7:14 p.m.
“So this year, we've been calling Christians around the country to think bigger than who is on the ballot,” he added in a letter to ministry partners. “To think about what America really needs.”
To join the initiative, participants can download a free app at www.if714.com that sends out encouraging reminders twice a day to pray for revival. Participants can also join via text by texting “if714” to 515-393-2782.
To date, more than 20,000 people have downloaded the app.
