Museum of the Bible Topping Out CeremonyMuseum of the Bible held a “topping out” celebration on Sept. 13, marking a key milestone in the construction of its 430,000-square-foot facility in Washington, D.C.

A “topping out” celebration occurs in construction when the final structural concrete or steel of a building is placed.

Scheduled to open in November 2017, Museum of the Bible will be home to one of the world’s largest private collections of biblical objects and artifacts. Comprising more than 40,000 objects, the Museum Collection spans artifacts from the time of Abraham to Dead Sea Scroll fragments, biblical papyri and manuscripts, Torah scrolls, and rare printed Bibles.

In addition, the museum will use cutting-edge technology to provide guests with an immersive, personalized, and unparalleled experience as they engage with the Bible.

“While we all look forward with great anticipation to the grand opening of the Museum next year in Washington, D.C., that’s only part of our institutional mission,” shared Cary Summers, President of Museum of the Bible, in a recent press release. “Through academic research, educational initiatives, traveling exhibits and the Museum itself, we seek, through many different means, to engage all people with the Bible.”

During Proclaim 17, the NRB International Christian Media Convention taking place Feb. 27-March 2, 2017, in Orlando, Florida, Museum of the Bible will present an all new, one-of-a-kind interactive preview of its eight-floor facility in Washington.

Visitors to the exhibit will get a firsthand look at biblical artifacts from the museum’s amazing collection, which contains some of the world’s rarest biblical artifacts in a massive, breathtaking, 20,000-square-foot presentation. They’ll get an exclusive sneak peek at the museum’s exhibit plans as well as the content and interactive technology that is going into it.

Among those in attendance at the “topping out” ceremony were NRB President & CEO Dr. Jerry A. Johnson, NRB EVP & COO Dr. Linda Smith, and NRB Convention Floor Manager & Project Coordinator Chuck Smith. More than 550 workers, national media, and VIPs were invited to attend.
