Earlier this year, on Easter Sunday, the one-hour television program “Movieguide’s Transformational Movies” aired on the REELZChannel.
Over the next two months, the program will air on local stations in more than 20 markets in the United States, according to an announcement late last week.
“Sidebar Digital was selected to do the syndication work,” Movieguide founder and publisher Dr. Ted Baehr said in a press release. “Our old friend and former Sony Television executive, Joe Kissack, came to us with a great distribution plan for the TV special.”
Hosted by Baehr and his daughter, Evy Carroll Baehr, the TV special highlights Movieguide’s favorite movies from last year and explains why the messages they entail are transformational. The program also features some highlights from the 26th Annual Movieguide Faith & Values Awards Gala, held earlier this year in Hollywood.
As the Baehrs guide viewers through the transformative movies of last year, the program includes interviews with some of the stars and filmmakers behind those movies, including Christian Bale, Zachery Levi, Demi Lovato, Christopher Nolan, and many others, who share with viewers the transformational messages and themes in their movies.
The TV special is split into four sections: “Movies That Transform Your Family Life,” “Movies That Transform Your World,” “Movies That Transform Your Future,” and, at the end of the program, the presentation of the Epiphany Prize for the Most Transformational Movie.
