Movieguide Sets Theme for 25th Annual Faith & Values Awards

Movieguide Awards“The Inspired Life” is the theme for next year’s 25th Annual Faith & Values Awards Gala and Report to the Entertainment Industry, announced Dr. Ted Baehr, Founder of Movieguide® and the Christian Film & Television Commission®.

“People love to be inspired by movies,” Dr. Baehr said in his announcement earlier this week. “Great movies are great stories well told, with inspiring, morally worthwhile and spiritually uplifting messages that stir people’s minds and hearts, the center of our values, passion and soul.”

Each year, around Oscar® time, Movieguide® hosts its annual Awards Gala, at which it honors the studio executives, producers, directors, actors, and writers of the best family-friendly movies and TV shows of the previous year.

The next event will be held Friday, Feb. 10, 2017, at the Universal Hilton Hotel near the heart of Hollywood.

The evening’s highlight will be the presentation of the two Epiphany Awards for Inspiring Movies & TV, which honor the best movie and best television program in 2016 that “greatly increases man’s love or understanding of God.”

Other big awards that evening will be the Crystal Teddy Bear Award for the Best Movie for Families of 2016, the Papa Bear Award for the Best Movie for Mature Viewers in 2016, and the Grace Awards for Inspiring Performances in Movies & TV, which are given to the best performances by an actor or actress that best exemplifies “God’s grace toward us as human beings.”

Following the award presentations, Dr. Baehr will present highlights from Movieguide®’s Annual Report to the Entertainment Industry, which each year examines how well family movies and movies with moral, spiritually uplifting, and redemptive content did at the box office and on home video compared to other kinds of movies.

“Box office numbers and statistical surveys show that moviegoers prefer family-friendly movies and entertainment with faith and values,” Dr. Baehr reported.

Author of The Culture-Wise Family and many other books, Dr. Baehr is Chairman of the Christian Film & Television Commission® (CFTVC) ministry and its family guide to movies, Movieguide®. Dr. Baehr also serves as the Chair of the NRB Film Standing Committee and is a member of the NRB Board of Directors.
