Actor/director Jim Caviezel is scheduled to speak during the morning Super Session on March 2, 2018, at Proclaim 18, the NRB International Christian Media Convention that will be held February 27-March 2, in Nashville, Tennessee.
In addition, the upcoming movie Paul, Apostle of Christ, starring Caviezel as the Apostle Luke, will be screened later that afternoon – four weeks before its release in theaters Easter weekend.
“We are excited to have Jim Caviezel join us for Proclaim 18, and to show Paul, Apostle of Christ before it comes out in theaters,” said Dr. Jerry A. Johnson, President & CEO of NRB. “Convention attendees next year will not only be hearing from insightful speakers and networking with like-minded media professionals; they’ll also be getting a chance to watch a number of top-notch, yet-to-be-released faith-based movies. Our 75th annual Convention is not to be missed!”
While recovering from a foot injury in college that curtailed his basketball career aspirations, Caviezel stumbled upon acting. In 1992, he landed a small role in the independent film My Own Private Idaho, which earned him a Screen Actors Guild Award. To further his career, Caviezel moved to Los Angeles where he landed small roles on popular TV shows Murder She Wrote, The Wonder Years, and Children of the Dust. He also accepted roles in the movies Diggstown and Wyatt Earp.
Caviezel’s breakthrough came in 1998, when he received critical recognition for his role in The Thin Red Line. That generated quality and mainstream roles in films such as Ang Lee’s Civil War drama Ride with the Devil, Mimi Leders’ dramatic romance Pay it Forward, and Luis Mandoki’s romantic thriller Angel Eyes.
Notably, Caviezel was chosen by Mel Gibson to portray Jesus Christ in the 2004 blockbuster The Passion of the Christ, which earned him a Grace Award from the Movie Guide Awards for the Most Inspired Movie. Since then, he has appeared in several other TV series and movies.
In his latest role, Caviezel plays the role Luke the Physician in Paul, Apostle of Christ, which tells the epic story of the man who went from persecutor of the church to its most powerful and important proponent. In the movie, Paul suffers alone in a Roman prison, awaiting his execution under Emperor Nero. At great risk, Luke visits the aged Paul to comfort and tend to him — and to question, transcribe and smuggle out Paul’s letters to the growing community of believers. Amid Nero’s inhuman persecution, these men and women will spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ and change the world.
Paul, Apostle of Christ stars James Faulkner (Game of Thrones) as Paul, as well as Olivier Martinez (SWAT), Joanne Whalley (A.D. The Bible Continues), and John Lynch (The Secret Garden).
Other films that will be shown at Proclaim 18 include God’s Not Dead 3, One Nation Under God, I Can Only Imagine, and Staines. Dennis Quaid (I Can Only Imagine) and Stephen Baldwin (Staines) are also among the speakers at the Convention – the largest nationally and internationally recognized event dedicated solely to assisting those in the field of Christian communications.
Proclaim 18 will take place February 27-March 2, 2018, at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville, while NRB’s award-winning Exposition – featuring around 200 exhibitors – will be open February 28-March 2.
