Insight for Living Ministries is planning to reach all 195 countries of the world with the message of God’s majesty, the authenticity of His Word, and the power of the cross, woven into a tapestry of God’s amazing grace.
And it plans to accomplish this by modeling the life of Christ and mentoring disciples through the new Charles R. Swindoll Searching the Scriptures Training Centers, as well as their daily broadcasts, translations of their broadcasts and published resources, the latest technology, and international pastoral internships.
They’ve called their God-given mission Vision 195.
“We plan to move forward with Vision 195 one day at a time as the Lord opens doors for us to model the proper use of Scripture and to mentor others in applying His Word to their life experiences — in essence, to become spiritually self-sustaining,” the ministry reported on their project's website. “In every country, we will follow the Lord’s leading with respect for each culture, believing that He will continue to open doors for us into new countries just as He has faithfully done since 1979.”
In 1959 – 20 years before Insight for Living launched its first radio broadcast – Chuck Swindoll began his training for ministry at Dallas Theological Seminary. His studies included a course taught by Dr. Howard G. Hendricks. According to the ministry, that course changed Swindoll’s life. Through it, he learned how to study the Scriptures and deliver messages with applications that touch the heart.
Since then, Swindoll has explained that method of study and delivery in a series titled “Searching the Scriptures.” This series is for anyone who wants to gain a better understanding of what it means to
Currently, Swindoll is writing a book called Searching the Scriptures, as well as companion STS Bible studies, which will be the centerpiece of Vision 195. The ministry’s plan is to establish the new Charles R. Swindoll Searching the Scriptures Training Centers under the direction of Insight for Living Ministries in each country. Each center will be led by qualified and trained pastors and translators. These pastors will, in turn, train and mentor indigenous pastors within their own countries to translate Insight for Living’s resources for people groups who currently have translated Bibles in their heart languages.
To support this vision’s aggressive international outreach, the ministry is currently building its own international headquarters in Frisco, Texas. It will house the first Charles R. Swindoll Searching the Scriptures Training Center, where it will train international students, pastors, leaders, and interns, many of whom will become future pastors and translators within the 195 countries.
“This is an audacious vision, but we have a sovereign God who has commissioned us with an unconditional promise,” the ministry shared, citing Matthew 28:20, which states: “Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
In a recent email to supporters, Swindoll reported that the construction on the first phase of the international headquarters should be complete next month. The ministry is currently asking its supporters to invest in Vision 195 through financial contributions and through prayer.
