The D. James Kennedy Center for Christian Statesmanship, a ministry of Evangelism Explosion International, has honored Kentucky Gov. Matt G. Bevin with its Distinguished Christian Statesman Award.
"Gov. Bevin is a diligent servant leader who takes the responsibilities of public office with the utmost seriousness and brings an unashamedly Christian worldview to the task," said Hon. John Hostettler, Director of the Center for Christian Statesmanship, in a press release from the organization. "We're thrilled to recognize him as a Christian statesman and leader."
Elected in 2015, Bevin is a husband, a father of nine children, a veteran, and a small business owner. Bevin has founded several companies in Kentucky and invested in a number of others in Kentucky and around the United States.
Bevin also has served on many non-profit boards, including Chairman of the Board for the American Red Cross, Louisville Area Chapter.
"My Christian faith has been the foundation for my life since I was a child," said Bevin in a press release from his office. "It defines my worldview, directs my moral compass and guides my decision-making process. I firmly believe in servant leadership, being a good steward of the public's trust, protecting the sanctity of human life and respecting our individual liberties. I am honored to be in a position to unapologetically defend the Judeo-Christian principles that are supported by the voters of Kentucky."
Given annually since 1996, the Distinguished Christian Statesman Award seeks to honor individuals who combine excellence in public service with character and faith in God.
"Our desire is to inspire more individuals to make Christian statesmanship the goal of their public service," said Hostettler.
