Noted actor Dennis Quaid is scheduled to speak on Tuesday, February 27, 2018, during the afternoon Super Session at Proclaim 18, the NRB International Christian Media Convention in Nashville, Tennessee.
In addition, the upcoming movie I Can Only Imagine, starring Quaid and inspired by Christian band MercyMe’s 2001 hit song of the same name, will be screened later that night – just two weeks before its release in theaters on March 16, 2018.
“We are looking forward to having Dennis Quaid speak at Proclaim 18," said NRB President & CEO Dr. Jerry A. Johnson. “And we are excited to show I Can Only Imagine on the opening night of our Convention. It will be a night of inspiration, and a great way to kick off our week together.”
Quaid grew up in the Houston suburb of Bellaire and was raised a Baptist. When he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a film career, he initially had trouble finding film roles, but began to gain notice when he appeared in Breaking Away in 1979. He earned strong reviews for his role in The Right Stuff. Among his many other roles are the recent television series American Crime Story and the movie A Dog’s Purpose. Aside from acting, Quaid is also a musician and plays with his band, The Sharks.
Quaid plays the role of Arthur Miller in the movie I Can Only Imagine, which tells the story behind the song penned by MercyMe lead singer Bart Millard.
Directed by the Erwin Brothers (October Baby, Moms' Night Out, and Woodlawn), I Can Only Imagine also stars Trace Adkins, Priscilla Shirer, J. Michael Finley, Madeline Carroll, and Cloris Leachman.
The movie will be shown on Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at 7:30 p.m. during Proclaim 18, shortly after the Convention’s Opening Session, which will feature performances by MercyMe.
Proclaim 18 will take place February 27-March 2, 2018, at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville, while NRB’s award-winning Exposition – featuring around 200 exhibitors – will be open February 28-March 2.
