NRB congratulates a number of members and member organizations for their recent selection as winners of a 2017 Christian Book Award.
Pastor Charles F. Stanley was selected as the winner of the 2017 Christian Book Award in the “Biography & Memoirs” category for Courageous Faith. Joni Eareckson Tada, with Larry Libby, was selected as the winner in the “Devotion & Gift” category for A Spectacle of Glory.
“Needless to say, given that A Spectacle of Glory was in a crowded field alongside other well-deserving devotional books, I am overwhelmed and humbled by the honor,” Tada shared on her blog last week. “To me, it demonstrates that readers long for deep insights on suffering, how to deal with it, and the comfort and encouragement that can be mined from God's Word.”
Also among the winners were books published by NRB members Thomas Nelson, Tyndale House Publishers, and Zondervan. In addition, Gold and Platinum awards were bestowed to industry titles reaching 500,000 and 1 million in sales. One book published by Thomas Nelson received a Platinum Award, while three others received a Gold Award. A Zondervan title also received a Gold Award.
In its announcement of the winners, the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association (ECPA) noted that the winning titles represent the best Christian book and Bible releases of the year.
“Publishing books is a process that requires extraordinary effort and investment on the part of a team of publishing professionals,” said ECPA Executive Director Stan Jantz in a press release the day after the winners were announced. “We honor tonight the quality they produce, yet we celebrate most the impact these winning titles will have on readers, the ultimate beneficiary of these outstanding books.”
Established in 1978 as the Gold Medallion Book Awards by the ECPA, the Christian Book Award program recognizes the absolute highest quality in Christian books. Based on excellence in content, literary quality, design, and impact, the Christian Book Award program is the oldest and among the most prestigious awards in the religious publishing industry.
The announcement of the 2017 winners was made at the ECPA Awards Celebration, held May 2 during the ECPA Leadership Summit in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
