Dr. Ted Baehr, Founder of Movieguide® and the Christian Film & Television Commission®, announced a wide variety of animated and live action movies competing for “Best Family Movie” of 2015 at the 24th Annual Movieguide® Faith & Values Awards Gala and Report to the Entertainment Industry.
The “Teddy Bear” Awards, as they are affectionately called, will be held on February 5, and be televised February 22 and 24, on the REELZChannel.
Heading the list of nominees for the Best Family Movie of 2015 are (in alphabetical order):
The domestic box office totals for these “Ten Best 2015 Movies for Families” range from about $356.5 million for Inside Out to $19.4 million for Shaun the Sheep Movie. The faith-based movie War Room became 2015’s most successful boutique movie from the major Hollywood studios.
“This is one of our strongest lists for Best Family Movies,” Dr. Baehr said. “Most of the movies have strong Christian, redemptive or morally uplifting content and values.”
At the Faith & Values Awards next month, Dr. Baehr will present highlights of Movieguide®’s 2016 Report to the Entertainment Industry, which shows Hollywood what kind of movies were most successful at the domestic and international box office as well as on home video in 2015.
Nominations for other awards will be announced soon, including the two $100,000 Epiphany Prizes for Inspiring Movies & TV, the $50,000 Kairos Prizes for Spiritually Uplifting Screenplays by First-Time and Beginning Screenwriters, the $50,000 Chronos Prize for Most Inspiring Screenplay by Established Filmmakers, the Best 2015 Movie for Mature Audiences, the Grace Awards for Inspiring Performances in Movies & TV, and the Faith & Freedom Award for the Best Movie Promoting Positive American Values.
