Dismayed by the surprise demolition of the Holy Trinity Church in Moscow, Dr. Frank Wright, President & CEO of NRB, opened an official inquiry with a key Russian office regarding the details of a plan to aid the displaced church. Copies of Dr. Wright’s letter were sent to the White House, the U.S. State Department, and the offices of Congressional leaders.
Notably, Dr. Wright, along with NRB Chairman of the Board Rich Bott and other NRB leaders, recently participated in the Media Forum of the Association of Christian Broadcasters in Russia. “Despite the worrisome trend in Russia regarding Christianity, the Forum was energized, rising to meet challenges in the days ahead,” remarked Dr. Hannu Haukka, President of the Great Commission Media Ministries and Chairman of the NRB International Committee. In addition, NRB Vice President of Government Relations Aaron Mercer this week attended a Capitol Hill briefing organized by Russian Ministries (USA) and the office of Congressman Joe Pitts (R-PA) on extensive challenges to religious freedom in Russia and other Eastern European and Central Asian nations.
