New Step by Facebook Against ‘Misleading News’

Facebook announced last week that it has a new tool for combating “hoaxes, or misleading news.”  When users of the social media platform choose to hide a story from their individual news feeds, they can now report the content as being false.  If enough people flag the post, then it will get less distribution across Facebook news feeds and may get an annotation attached to it stating that many Facebook users have reported it.  Facebook noted, “We are not removing stories people report as false and we are not reviewing content and making a determination on its accuracy.”  NRB will remain attentive to the results of this new mechanism.
