Four months after its launch, Alpha Radio is now being heard on 43 radio stations throughout the nation, from California to Vermont.
Launched as an initiative of the outreach ministry Alpha USA, Alpha Radio is a daily two-minute program featuring Alpha USA’s Executive Director, Gerard Long.
“The new Alpha radio program is designed to bring inspiration for sharing the love of Jesus Christ with those around us,” says Long. “Our goal is to bring the desire, joy, and fun back to evangelism!”
According to Long, the Monday-through-Friday radio broadcast draws on scriptural foundations to ignite passion among Christians to actively engage in the Great Commission.
While it also presents non-Christians with compelling answers to their questions, the two-minute daily broadcast is primarily designed to encourage and equip followers of Christ to share the good news with their neighbors.
“With churches in every state offering The Alpha Course, Alpha Radio provides a natural opportunity for stations to partner with their local churches in spreading the Gospel to their communities,” shares Roger Kemp & Company, Inc., which partnered with Alpha USA to produce and represent Alpha Radio.
The Alpha Course, which began at Holy Trinity Brompton Church in central London in the late 1970s, is today a 10-week practical introduction to the Christian faith. To date, more than 18 million people have taken part in The Alpha Course in 169 countries around the world.
