KCFT Television in Anchorage, AK, recently won the Alaska Broadcasters Association’s 2013 Goldie Award for Best TV Sports Play-by-Play.
Goldie Awards are given annually to bring recognition to Alaska broadcasters for outstanding presentations. This year, more than 60 awards were handed out by the ABA, whose membership comprises 100% of Alaska’s TV stations and 96% of Alaska’s radio stations.
"We really use sports as an outreach to get the Gospel to people who normally wouldn't watch our station and to be honored in this way is just icing on the cake!" said KCFT TV General Manager Tom Steigleman, who also manages Z-93.7 FM and KATB 89.3 FM in Anchorage, and KJLP 88.9 FM in Palmer.
Since 1984, KCFT Channel 35, Christian Family Television, has been on the air providing 24-hour-a-day family-friendly programming. KCFT broadcasts with nearly 20,000 watts of signal output, and reaches all of the Anchorage Bowl area. KCFT is also carried on the GCI Cable System in Anchorage, The Valley, and in Valdez on Channel 19.
KCFT is owned by Alaska Broadcast Television, Inc., and depends on several satellite networks for program distribution. The station receives support from viewers, programs, commercial sales, and foundations.
