Hope For The Heart, the ministry of renowned biblical counselor June Hunt, is partnering with Liberty Quest Foundation to stream ministry materials and audio files to prisoners throughout the United States.
“There is a reason June Hunt is so in demand to speak; she’s great,” remarked Liberty Quest Director P.J. McMann. “We are so happy that she has agreed to provide Hope For The Heart audio content to the inmates. Her words will inspire those incarcerated in the federal system to a higher level, providing hope and inspiration through the Word of God.”
For nearly 30 years, Hope For The Heart has offered hope and practical help through biblical counsel, coaching, and context for contemporary concerns in more than 60 countries on six continents. The ministry has a two-fold mission: Providing Bible-based counsel to renew minds, heal hearts, and bring hope to the hurting, while empowering Christians to disciple others.
Liberty Quest Foundation, whose mission is to provide scholarships to children who have or have had a parent incarcerated, is engaged in a number of initiatives to improve the conditions, operations, and impact of prisons in the United States. The Foundation’s Streaming Faith Initiative, which Hope For The Heart has joined, is a grassroots movement to appeal to the federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) to allow inmates the access to religious broadcasts, podcasts, and music at no charge.
Currently, prisoners have access to purchase MP3 players and can purchase downloads at above-market prices. There is, however, no religious programming – paid or otherwise – of any faith or any religious music of any kind that is available for download through the Bureau of Prisons’ closed music distribution system.
“Because of the prison environment, many inmates must practice their religion on an individual basis,” noted Liberty Quest. “In addition, many also have some level of learning disability which hinders their ability and motivation to read. With this scenario, an opportunity exists to expand the reach of the Gospel through the use of the BOP’s current music delivery infrastructure with free content provided by numerous reputable and well-followed religious streaming providers.”
To date, Liberty Quest has partnered with a number of ministries for the Streaming Faith Initiative, including Stephen Davey's Wisdom for the Heart Ministry, John MacArthur’s Grace to You ministry, and Jeff Schreve’s From His Heart Ministries.
In addition, Liberty Quest also promotes and lobbies for improvement in prison conditions, prison programs, and other opportunities for prisoners to enhance their minds, bodies, and souls so as to provide more humane treatment of those incarcerated and to reduce prisoner recidivism.
