Bradley Mattes, the Executive Director and Co-Founder of Life Issues Institute, was recently named the new president of the International Right to Life Federation (IRTLF).
In a unanimous vote, members of the IRTLF board selected Mattes to represent the organization as its president and to succeed distinguished pro-life pioneer Dr. J.C. Willke, who had served as president since the organization’s founding in 1984.
“I am pleased to leave the IRTLF in very competent hands,” commented Willke, who decided this year to retire from the role after nearly 30 years.
“Brad has been my co-worker, partner and friend during these years. So, with great confidence, I look forward to the continuing growth of IRTLF under his leadership,” he added.
As a world-wide federation of autonomous, national pro-life groups and individuals, IRTLF is dedicated to imparting and exchanging information to every nation with the single mission of achieving legal protection for all innocent human life from conception until natural death.
For 28 years, the organization has been engaged in educational, charitable and scientific activities to protect the unborn and defenseless.
Upon accepting the new role, Mattes said, “It is with the utmost respect and humility that I assume the privilege of representing the global voices of life. As I begin this undertaking, I take great comfort in the knowledge that I don’t shoulder this responsibility alone. The voices of pro-life leaders from around the world join with me to speak for those who cannot. Together, we can and we will protect the sanctity of life.”
In addition to serving as an advocate of pro-life issues for 37 years, Mattes hosts a daily radio commentary on abortion and related issues. He is also a 2010 Regional Emmy award-winning host and executive producer of the weekly pro-life television program called Facing Life Head-On.
